For Bond Lovers, There Are Gadgets Galore--But Bonus Ian Fleming Profile Really Seals The Deal
From the title alone, I'm sure you can determine if you have an interest in History Channel's "James Bond Gadgets." Guess what I'm going to say? If you like James Bond and are a fan of the History docu-series format, this may be just the item to hold you over until "Skyfall" drops into theaters this winter. The DVD brings together information from a couple of different specials (produced in different years) combining some of the classic gadgets and cars from yesteryear with some of the technology from the more modern Bond outings. Among some of the features are the Auto Gyro from "You Only Live Twice," the Acrostar Jet from "Octopussy," the Q-Boat from "The World is Not Enough," the classic Astin Martin whose debut goes all the way back to "Goldfinger", the Rocket Belt from "Thunderball," and the Underwater Scooter from the same film. I've always been a fan of Modern Marvels and this DVD contains two episodes devoted to the gadgets of the world's greatest spy - Bond, James Bond. As a bonus there is a biography of Ian Fleming which does a great job of giving the viewer some insights into the mind that created Bond.

If you are a fan of James Bond, this is a must have as an addition to your collection of movies and memorobilia. Highly recommended.

Halloween II (Collector's Edition)

2000 years later, we've come no further
In putting together this sequel, the powers-that-be decided to combine several of the strongest elements from the original film(Michael Myers, Dr. Loomis, the strong Halloween atmosphere)with the standard pace of an early 80's slasher film(people getting killed every 5-10 minutes.) For me, this is the ideal combination. There has not been a slasher movie since that I have liked more than this one.
Dr. Loomis is my favorite horror hero, and Michael Myers my favorite horror villain. They both enjoy some of their finest moments in this installment. I find this version of Myers creepier than the later incarnations, where he has suddenly grown into something resembling an nfl lineman. There is something in the deliberate movements, and the angular figure, that is decidedly inhuman. And Dr. Loomis elevates all of this to a far higher level than it could ever have achieved otherwise.His strength,courage, and iron will make him a hero. One of the Absolute Essentials
I have seen this film in excess of 300 times-perhaps 400-by now. I mention that for one reason..........namely, that you simply cannot watch something that many times unless you really enjoy the process of watching it. For instance, once you've seen something a half dozen times or so, all pretense of suspense is lost. There is no longer any suspense, because you know exactly what is going to happen. You're not waiting to see how it ends, because you know how it ends. Eventually, you know how each and every SCENE ends.

I reached that point, and surpassed it.........and yet I still kept watching it. For one reason........

When talking about the Halloween series, you'll always get the schmuck who says, "oh yeah, then there was that one that didn't even have Michael Myers in it. That was stupid". Yup, I've heard it time and time again. Most of the time this statement comes from someone who hasn't actually seen the film or is just a victim of the general consensus that says this is a terrible film coz it's not a legitimate sequel. Sure there are people out there that honestly just don't like the film, and that's cool coz there isn't a single film that everyone agrees is good. If they have reasons for not liking the film other than the lack of Myers, that's A-OK with me. Here's a little backstory. Halloween 3 was the first and only film in an experiment of John Carpenter's. Carpenter went to great lengths to show the audience at the end of Halloween 2 that Myers is dead, terminated, gone forevermore. Open your mind.....Halloween III is a classic!
Let me start out by saying that I love Halloween 1 & 2. When it was time for Johm Carpenter and Debra Hill to make another Halloween film, they decided that the Michael Myers character was tired and played out. So they tried something new and fresh with Halloween 3: Season Of The Witch. Being a fan of horror, Carpenter's original idea was to release a new Halloween film every few years, each one with a totally new plot and original characters. His idea was to bring in new directors and serve as a producer for these original scary tales. Well the close-minded public couldn't accept a film with the Halloween heading and no Michael Myers, so the idea was scrapped. Well I used to ditch school to watch this on The Movie Channel in the 80's, so I guess you could say I like it. A sinister warlock that wants to kill thousands of children on Halloween night. The third Halloween installment was terrifying!!
This is in my opinion one of the most terrifying films I have ever seen, the whole premise of this film is enough to frighten hell the out of anybody. The story for the film was written by Nigel "Quatermass" Kneale, and British highly acclaimed science fiction/horror writer. Nigel "Quartermass" Kneale was so overwhelmed and disgusted by the gruesomeness(blood and gore) of this picture, so he sued the producers of this film to have his name removed from the credits. The film has a deeper meaning to it. Many Americans don't realize the hedonism of Halloween or their not concerned with it. Thousands of young children in North America go trick or treating every year on Halloween, yet they don't realize what their celebrating. The film involves a Celtic warlock disguised as a CEO of large company called Silver Shamrock, who is getting ready for a Halloween like no other. Meanwhile somewhere in the rural outskirts of Northern California an old man is getting chased by a group of assilants...

Fight Club [HD]

The most underrated film of the last year
When I'm looking at the Top Ten list's of America's critics and the nominations of the DGA,WGA and all the other guilds and press associations, I terribly miss David Fincher's outstanding film "Fight Club", which is possibly the best film of 1999.

Not only is the film visualy stunning, it is also very thought-provoking, wickedly funny and, above all, extremely entertaining. Only few films managed to be so many things at once. David Fincher, in my opinion one of the most exciting directors of the decade, fills his movie with so many ideas that it would be sufficient for three more movies, and they are not just gimmicks for their own sake, they all mean something. Edward Norton and Brad Pitt are brilliant in the leads and the soundtrack by the Dust Brothers fits perfectly to the images.

Many reviewers thought the film was fascist. I think you can only call this ridiculous, since that assumes Fincher sympathizes with Tyler Durden's project mayhem. In fact, he...

The year's best satire
FIGHT CLUB arrived in the US with a blaze of publicity stressing its violence and nihilism; some critics (and those close to the production) countered this with the suggestion that it was an anti-materialist jeremiad. On a second viewing, it seems like neither -- it's easier to see it as a smart, committed and complex piece of filmmaking. David Fincher once again dazzles with his direction, which is as intelligently energetic as the acting of Brad Pitt and, especially, Edward Norton. What's really impressive, however, is the way that the film manages to flirt with an anti-materialist, hyper-masculine primitivism even as it suggests that we're all a little too sophisticated to buy it (as it were).

FIGHT CLUB may hold that we're not the clothes we wear, or the credit cards in our wallet, but it's savvy enough to realise that our paths of thought and modes of organisation are almost entirely contaminated by the world we've created. Is the solution to destroy that world...

This Movie is Why "Professional" Critics Must Go
I didn't see this movie in the theaters because it had gotten very mixed reviews from the so-called professional movie reviewers. But, when it hit the local vidoe store, I thought I would give it a try. WOW, what a kick in the teeth, interesting, and fast moving journey into one man's mind. The path this movie takes is fantastic.

Norton and Pitt are perfectly cast, and supported by a crew of fight club members that make for a well-acted show. Meatloaf, Ed Gil, Jared Leto, et. al. are great in support as the members/followers of the leads. Helena Bonham Carter has the only real female role in this film and is perfectly cast. But as much as the acting, this movie is made by the story. Unconventional, with a great twist at the end, the whole movie kept me on the edge of my seat. As with many great movies, it is hard to classify the genre (action, comedy, drama), as there is a sampling of all in this film. In the end, I would just classify this as a great...

Bad Ass [HD]

Just A Fun Action-Filled Movie
This film is just a fun little action film that shouldn't be taken too serious. And if you're into those kinds of movies, you should enjoy this one. And with a tagline "They 'messed' with the wrong senior citizen", how can you go wrong? Personally, I'm a big Danny Trejo fan. And its nice to see him play in more starring roles (like Machete). And this role fits him perfectly. The film has plenty of action, some amusing lines of dialogue, and actually a pretty good storyline. In fact, its partly based on a true event of an older man beating a younger guy up on a bus (which is how the film begins). The acting is decent, and the only kinda weak thing is some of the special effects look very obvious. Other than that, I can't complain to much about the film. I definitely enjoyed it. You have to know what kind of film you're watching in order to have the right expectations. Obviously, if you bought or rent this expecting something like Training Day or something other more dramatic action...

I DIDN'T KNOW I WAS THAT GOOD LOOKING...
There is nothing like getting cozy with a warm and fuzzy Danny Trejo vigilante film with a hot cup of cocoa made with my Keurig coffee machine bought on the Amazon. Oh Wait! I'm not in the vine program. Never mind.

Danny Trejo, ex-Vietnam war vet, hot dog stand entrepreneur, becomes a reluctant vigilante after his war buddy Klondike (Harrison Page) was murdered. The police are dragging their feet on the investigation. The movie compares him to Charles Bronson, but at times he is more like Harry Brown. Ron Perlman has a minor role as the crooked mayor. Very cliche filled film.

It attempts to be funny, but can really only muster mild humor. Perhaps the funniest aspect is how our tough BA vigilante takes the bus everywhere he has to go to find the bad guys. This is not the grindhouse style Trejo fans are used to seeing, although it does turn bloody after a slow start. It is worth a rental.

Frequent F-bomb, brief sex, brief nudity

Only Danny Trejo could do this part. Acting was iffy and plot wasn't original but overall very entertaining.A good watch I say B
"You killed my best friend, how do you want to die?" When Vietnam vet Frank Vega (Trejo) returns to the US he has big plans for his life. When a few things don't go his way life begins to pass him by. He is now 60 and lost. While taking the bus one day he defends an elderly man who is being picked on and finds himself a local hero. After his friend is murdered and the cops don't do enough he decides to take the law into his own hands. I have to start by saying that only Danny Trejo could play this part, it is so perfect for him. Perfect blend of over the top action and comedy and realistic action that only he can pull off. That said this is really nothing original combining parts of "Falling Down", "Gran Torino" and "Hobo With A Shotgun" but what the movie is is very entertaining. The Babymakers [Blu-ray]

Good Movie
This is a pretty good movie for the buck. It is not a high budget blockbuster, but it keeps your attention throughout the movie and has a great plot.

Very funny

Amusing movie that switches comedic styles in midstream
This is two movies seeking to be one. It begins as an insightful yet funny look at how infertility affects a comedy. The couple have a delightful relationship where they solve the simpler problems well, which may be positive to watch yet lacks the conflict sought in many films, although the fertility issues looks with growing intensity. There is a long focus on this relationship with some laugh out loud hilarity among a serious examination of how infertility affects people.

The movie then shifts into a weird digressions as a slapstick comedy with much silliness. It sinks to racial humor. Overall, there is enough humor to make this a fun movie, The viewer should be prepared for an unorthodox cinematic journey.

Love this Movie!
I love this movie and have seen it many times, and would recommend it to others. It is one to keep in your library for future laughs!
